Preschool

Preschool

Saint Joseph Preschool Program is a learner-centered environment that promotes Catholic values, spiritual growth and respect. We provide academic excellence for a lifetime of service to Christ and the community. Our Catholic identity is woven throughout the Preschool Program with daily prayer, the celebration of feast days, and our Catholic traditions. All classrooms enjoy a prayer corner and religious pictures and other items that are an important part of faith formation.

Learning Environment

Preschoolers need predictable and consistent schedules in order to build social-emotional skills, including self-regulation, self-confidence, and independence all while exploring in a play-based setting.  Children are invited to actively participate and engage in meaningful activities in the classroom.  Instruction is a balance between teacher led instruction and student exploration, as teachers encourage students to actively explore in the classroom.  Student exploration drives what students will be able to do, in regards to Early Learning Foundations.  The learning environment is structured in such a way that the classroom is the canvas and the students provide the color.  Everything in the room has a purpose for student enrichment within their environment.

Accreditation

Saint Joseph Preschool is rated a Level 4 (highest rating) for Paths to Quality.  We demonstrate a commitment to a great level of professionalism and maintain accreditation through Cognia.

3 year old class The 3 year old program is developed to start your child with their first experience in school.  They will learn in a play-based environment through a structured curriculum that includes both creative play and hands-on activities.  Children will work on social-emotional skills, along with skills such as sharing, group play, problem solving, and communication.  Children need to be potty trained before classes begin.

4 year old class The 4 year old program is based on the kindergarten centers approach which is more independent and students will need to follow several directions.  It will include creative expression, language arts, reading, math, social studies, health, and science.  They will improve listening skills, sel-esteem, self-responsibility, and social-emotional skills so they will be better prepared for kindergarten.  The classroom teacher will follow the Indiana Foundations guideline to help provide your child the skills to be successful in kindergarten.

We offer Before School Care and After School Care to St. Joseph School and Preschool students. Before Care begins at 7:15am and After Care ends at 5:30pm.
